Dermal Fillers

Dr. Taylor may recommend a wrinkle filler to add volume to lips, lift up wrinkles and folds, and reshape facial contours.

Restylane® and Perlane®, wrinkle fillers, are both clear, biodegradable, non-animal, stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA) gels that act as a collagen substitute. When injected under the skin, these gels produce volume that can reshape facial contours. The two products are virtually identical, differing only in the size of their gel particles. Perlane’s larger gel particles are intended for deeper injection under the skin.

Their effects last substantially longer than collagen, and because hyaluronic acid is a natural, fully-biocompatible substance already present in your body, there is no risk of allergic reaction. Restylane and Perlane are non-inflammatory and non-toxic.

Treatment with Restylane and Perlane is very quick and easy, generally taking only thirty minutes or so. The clear gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle and produces volume that helps to reshape facial contours. Most people find the injections painless. Immediately after treatment, you can expect slight redness, swelling, tenderness, or an itching sensation in the treated area. The discomfort is temporary and generally disappears in a few days.

The results are practically instantaneous and last for about six months.
